                                            CLOSURE OF NAPARIMA-MAYARO ROAD

The Ministry of Works and Transport wishes to inform the public that the Naparima-Mayaro Road, (in the vicinity of LP#395 - #397 LHS) will be closed to vehicular traffic from 6 a.m. on Saturday December 5, 2015 to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday December 6, 2015.

Motorists are therefore advised to use the detour route from Petit Café/Moruga Road to Matilda Road to Naparima/Mayaro Road (as indicated in the map below). St. Georges Road and Post Office Trace have also been identified as alternative routes for local residents and motorists of light vehicles.

The closure has become necessary to facilitate asphalt paving and ancillary works that are associated with the completion of the rehabilitation of the Naparima-Mayaro Road.

Additionally, once re-opened, motorists are advised that a temporary single lane traffic flow will be implemented within the construction zone to accommodate painting and road markings onsite.

In light of the above, motorists are advised to comply with the following:-
  •  Please proceed with caution and observe all directional signs and barriers.
  •  Please comply with instructions from the designated flagmen on site to facilitate the safe and orderly flow of traffic.
  •  Please be aware of heavy equipment entering and exiting the site.
  •  Please drive with caution on all milled (possibly uneven) surfaces.
  •  Motorists should drive at a reduced speed on approaching the work zone.
The Ministry of Works and Transport apologises for any inconvenience and looks forward to your co-operation. For further information, please view the Ministry’s website via
