Commissioning and Commemoration Ceremony - ASHARA Safety Zone, Sea Lots

A Commissioning and Commemoration Ceremony for the ASHARA Safety Zone, Sea Lots was held on Wednesday evening, June 5th, at the SWMCOL (Solid Waste Management Company Limited) Compound on Production Drive Sea Lots. The ceremony was held to formally launch the opening of the Safety Zone as well as to give rememberance to the persons who lost their lives and as well as those who remain injured as a result of the widely reported traffic accident that occurred in the area on the morning of February 24, this year.

The Ceremony saw a large turnout of residents. Feature speakers at the ceremony were the Honourable Minister of Works and Infrastructure Dr. Surujrattan Rambachan, Senator the Honourable Emmanuel George, former Works Minister and now Minister of National Security, who was Ministster of Works and Infrastructure at the time of the accident, and Mr. Kenroy Dopwell, Spokesperson for the newly founded ASHARA Foundation, who along with other Sea Lots residents' representatives, met and worked along with the Ministry to develop the Safety Zone.
