NGC PRESENTS THE COUVA/ PREYSAL INTERCHANGE
BEAUTIFICATION PROJECT PLAN

The National Gas Company Limited of Trinidad and Tobago (NGC) presented the conceptual design for the Couva/Preysal Interchange Beautification Project on Wednesday 2nd April at the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure’s Administration Building, located at the Corner of Richmond and London Streets, Port of Spain.

This project is a collaborative effort between MOWI and NGC; using designs done by Talma Mill Studios Limited. NGC, as part of its continued corporate social responsibility, will embark on a major landscaping and beautification plan that will transform this major gateway to the Point Lisas Industrial Estate. The plan includes recreational areas, ponds, retail areas, a museum and aesthetically appropriate greenery. Talma Mill Studios emphasized that its plans for the Interchange are aimed at promoting a “sustainable environment” through its choice of solar powered materials and by the recycling of waste water, among other things.

The Honourable Dr. Surujrattan Rambachan, Minister of Works and Infrastructure, congratulated NGC on this first rate initiative that would enhance the environment in this heavily trafficked area. Minister Rambachan also expressed his desire to see more such projects at the major intersections throughout the country.

President of NGC, Mr. Indar Maharaj, emphasized the importance of companies contributing to the development of Trinidad and Tobago. He said “making money for the sake of making money does not make sense.”  Mr. Maharaj also boasted that this signature project will raise the bar for highway beautification.

Once works commence, they are expected to be completed within eight months.
