REPUBLIC OF TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO
THE MOTOR VEHICLES AND ROAD TRAFFIC ACT, CHAP. 48:50 REGULATIONS
MADE BY THE COMMISSIONER OF POLICE WITH THE CONSENT OF THE
MINISTER OF WORKS AND INFRASTRUCTURE UNDER SECTION 67(1) OF THE MOTOR VEHICLES AND ROAD TRAFFIC ACT
THE TRAFFIC CONTROL (EXPERIMENTAL SCHEME) [ROUTE AREA (4) MAXI-TAXI AND TAXI STAND] (MAYARO) REGULATIONS, 2015
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Traffic Control (Experimental Scheme) [Route Area (4) Maxi-Taxi and Taxi Stand] (Mayaro) Regulations, 2015.
2. In these Regulations, “Route Area (4)” means the route area specified in the Fourth Schedule of the Maxi-Taxi Regulations.
3. These Regulations shall commence on Tuesday 1st September, 2015 and expire on Monday 30th November, 2015.
4. Maxi-Taxi drivers plying Route Area (4) shall–
(a) enter the Mayaro Transport Hub from the Naparima-Mayaro Road, which is located at the northern side of the Mayaro Transport Hub; and
(b) exit the Mayaro Transport Hub by proceeding onto the Guayaguayare Road, located at the western side of the Mayaro Transport Hub.
5. Taxi drivers plying the routes from the Mayaro Transport Hub shall–
(a) enter the Mayaro Transport Hub from the Naparima- Mayaro Road, which is located at the northern side of the
Mayaro Transport Hub; and
(b) exit the Mayaro Transport Hub by proceeding onto the Guayaguayare Road, located at the western side of the
Mayaro Transport Hub.
6. (1) No more than four maxi-taxis plying the Mayaro/Rio Claro route shall park facing south on Lane Four of the Mayaro Transport Hub.

(2) No more than four maxi-taxis plying the Mayaro/
Guayaguayare route shall park facing south on Lane Five of the
Mayaro Transport Hub.
7. (1) No more than four taxis plying the Mayaro/Stone Bridge
route shall park facing south on Lane One of the Mayaro Transport Hub.
(2) No more than four taxis plying the Mayaro/Guayaguayare route shall park facing south on Lane Two of the Mayaro Transport Hub.
(3) No more than five taxis plying the Mayaro/Rio Claro route shall park facing south on Lane Three of the Mayaro Transport Hub.
(4) No more than six taxis plying the Mayaro/Sangre Grande route shall park facing south on the eastern side of Peter Hill.
8. Maxi-taxi drivers and taxi drivers shall proceed in a southerly direction only along Peter Hill, from Solomon Street to Naparima- Mayaro Road.
9. A person who contravenes these Regulations is liable on summary conviction, in the case of a first offence, to a fine of seven hundred and fifty dollars and in the case of a second or subsequent offence, to a fine of one thousand dollars.
10. Without prejudice to any other liability incurred by the commission of a summary offence, vehicles found parked in
contravention of these Regulations may be removed by a member of the Police Service and impounded and dealt with in accordance with section 108(1)(b) of the Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic Act.
