Minister of Works and Transport Visits M1 Tasker Road 4.0km Mark for the Reopening

Senator the Honourable Rohan Sinanan, Minister of Works and Transport was on-site at the M1 Tasker Road 4.0km Mark as the Ministry’s Highways Division completes restoration works on the roadway. The M1 Tasker Road will be reopened to the commuting public at 6:00 p.m. today (Monday 24th October, 2022). At the site visit, Minister Sinanan expressed his satisfaction with the timely progress made on the project which was completed within a two-week period.

He further reinforced that these works, “are not temporary, but provide a permanent solution with a full reinstatement of the road, which included the widening of the crossing and replacement of the failed culvert.” Minister Sinanan also took the opportunity to express his concerns on the impact of climate change, which has given rise to intense rainfall activities which negatively impacts the country’s aged and aging infrastructure.

Despite these challenges, Minister Sinanan gave his reassurance that the Ministry is actively working to provide practical solutions to treat with the impact of climate change and its effects on our infrastructure. Members of the public are advised that although the road will be open to vehicular traffic, the Highways Division will continue to undertake ancillary works which include drainage and desilting efforts. Motorists are advised to proceed with caution and obey all directional signage. The Ministry of Works wishes to thank the commuting public for its patience during this period.
