Mamoral 6.1 km Slope Stabilisation Project

Work is progressing steadily on the Mamoral 6.1 km Slope Stabilisation Project, a critical intervention undertaken following a sudden landslip that affected connectivity and access to the community and compromised road safety. The project is being undertaken by the Ministry’s Highways Division and is currently approximately 60 per cent complete. The scope of works includes the construction of a gabion basket retaining wall, as well as essential drainage improvements and road rehabilitation works, all aimed at stabilising the affected slope and strengthening the roadway.

Once completed, these works will significantly reduce the risk of future washouts and enhance the overall safety and reliability of the route. By improving slope stability and drainage, the project will allow for safer, more confident travel. This intervention forms part of the Ministry’s ongoing commitment to protecting communities and maintaining resilient infrastructure across the country.
