The Drainage Division of the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure has successfully carried out desilting works along the Arouca River. Over time, silt and debris build-up reduced the river’s ability to channel stormwater effectively, increasing the risk of flooding for nearby communities.
The completed works have enhanced water flow and provided greater protection for residents and businesses in Arouca, especially during the rainy season. Citizens are encouraged to play their part by refraining from dumping waste into rivers, helping to preserve the integrity of these critical watercourses.
