Tributary to Oropouche River, Oropouche
As part of its nationwide flood mitigation programme, the Ministry’s Drainage Division undertook desilting works on a key tributary to the Oropouche River. The tributary was affected by sediment deposits and blockages, limiting its drainage capacity and raising concerns for residents of surrounding communities.
By restoring proper flow, the intervention reduces the risk of overflow and enhances protection for homes, businesses, and farmlands in the Oropouche area. The Ministry urges citizens to partner in this effort by keeping watercourses clear of garbage and debris and to dispose of their waste properly.
