Response to Newsday article on bad roads in San Fernando

The Ministry of Works and Transport has noted the Newsday article which appeared on Friday 2nd March, 2018 titled “Sando Mayor bombarded with bad-road complaints” and wishes to clarify that the Nationwide Road Maintenance Initiative is ongoing, and is currently operational throughout the Diego Martin and Sangre Grande Regional Corporations and the Port of Spain City Corporation.

As such, the Ministry further clarifies that all Municipal Corporations will be privy to assistance from this initiative and advises that Ministry officials are engaged in discussions with the San Fernando City Corporation to bring the requisite training and skills needed for their work force to “handle and place” the hot mix asphalt process.

The Ministry of Works and Transport remains committed to working with all Municipal Corporations in the successful execution of the Nationwide Road Maintenance Initiative.
