Temporary Traffic Disruption - Closure of the Diego Martin Highway

The Ministry of Works and Transport wishes to advise the public that there will be a temporary traffic disruption between the HDC Chaconia Crescent Apartment building and Four Roads Government Primary School, on Friday 9th August, 2019 at 8PM to Sunday 11th August, 2019 at 10AM. This has become necessary in order to facilitate the installation of the Pedestrian Overpass Superstructure.

Please be advised that this section of the Diego Martin Highway from the Y-intersection of the Diego Martin Main Road (North Bound) to Morne Coco Road Intersection will be CLOSED to vehicular traffic during this period in order to facilitate the timely completion of these works.

Alternative Routes
During this period, motorists are advised to utilize one of the alternative routes provided: -
1. Motorists wishing to proceed Southbound (Option 1)– It is recommended that motorists turn left unto Morne Coco Road at the traffic lights and the first right unto Hillcrest Drive. At the T-junction, turn right unto Union Road then left unto Franklin Road and exit unto the southbound lane of the Diego Martin Highway or use any route appropriate to your destination from Union Road.

2. Motorists wishing to proceed South (Option 2) - Motorists can also turn right unto Morne Coco Road at the traffic lights and continue along Morne Coco Road unto the Western Main Road.

3. Motorists wishing to proceed Northbound – At the Y-intersection, proceed unto the Diego Martin Main Road then turn right unto Morne Coco Road then continue left unto the northbound lane of the Diego Martin Highway or use any route appropriate to your destination from Morne Coco Road junction.

In light of the above, motorists are advised to comply with the following:
  • Proceed with caution and observe all directional signs and barriers
  • Motorists should drive at a reduced speed on approaching the work zone
  • Comply with instructions from Police Officers on site to facilitate a safe and orderly flow of traffic
  • Be aware of heavy equipment entering and exiting the site
