Raising, Removal and Disposal of Wrecks

The Government of Trinidad and Tobago through the Ministry of Works and Transport (Maritime Services Division) intends to rid the territorial waters of Trinidad and Tobago of vessels/wrecks which pose a hazard to navigation and the environment.

The Ministry of Works and Transport, Maritime Services Division acting on behalf of the Government of Trinidad and Tobago has overall coordination of the project. The Principal Receiver of Wreck (Director of Maritime Services) is empowered under the Shipping Act to exercise general direction and supervision over all matters relating to wrecks and salvage. An exercise was conducted to assess the wrecks in territorial waters of Trinidad and Tobago.
