The Maritime Services Division provides Maritime Administration for Trinidad and Tobago. It ensures the safety and security of shipping and the prevention of vessel source pollution. The division also facilitates the growth of the national maritime sector through the necessary regulatory, administrative, advisory and developmental frameworks.
The Division also plays a pivotal role in:
- The development of the national maritime sector and represents the state's interest in shipping safety and security
- General maritime matters at International Maritime Organisation conferences/meetings
- Acting as the implementation, monitoring and compliance authority for most of the State's obligation in respect of international maritime instruments (conventions, codes and guidance lines) to which Trinidad and Tobago ratified.
