On Wednesday 28th September, 2022, the Rienzi Kirton Highway Overpass was commissioned. Senator the Honourable Rohan Sinanan, Minister of Works and Transport, the Honourable Faris Al Rawi, Member of Parliament for San Fernando, and other project stakeholders were joined by residents of the San Fernando community for the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
As one of the many significant projects by the Programme for Upgrading Roads Efficiency (P.U.R.E), this pedestrian overpass has been outfitted with security fencing, handrails, and lighting for all trusses and ramps, as well as painting on all ramps and columns. Savings from the project have been redirected to the upgrade of the bus shed and surrounding roadworks in the area.
