Temporary Traffic Disruption - Maritime Roundabout Barataria

The Ministry of Works and Transport wishes to advise the public that there will be a temporary traffic disruption at the Maritime Roundabout, Barataria. This has become necessary to facilitate Road Rehabilitation works which commenced on Saturday 21st May 2022 and is expected to be completed on Monday 23rd May 2022.
The hours of work are as follows:
8:00 p.m. -  5:00 a.m.


Motorists are kindly asked to take note of the temporary traffic diversions in place, to allow for the completion of road works in a safe and timely manner:

  • Vehicles heading in an Easterly direction on the Churchill Roosevelt Highway, wishing to head into Barataria/Morvant will need to use the Don Miguel Road exit, further unto Bhagoutie Trace, and then unto Sixth Avenue.

  •  Vehicles heading in a Westerly direction on the Churchill Roosevelt Highway, wishing to head into Barataria/Morvant, will be required to exit at the Aranguez Overpass and take the left unto Aranguez Main Road and continue in a Northerly direction to the Eastern Main Road.

  • Vehicles heading in a Southerly direction along the Lady Young Road, wishing to access the Churchill Roosevelt Highway, will be required to turn left unto Fifth Street then right unto Tenth Avenue.


Considering the above, motorists are advised to comply with the following: 

  • Proceed with caution and observe all directional signs and barriers.

  • Comply with instructions from Police Officers on-site to facilitate a safe and orderly flow of traffic.

  • Be aware of heavy equipment entering and exiting the site.

  • Drive with caution on all milled (possibly uneven) surfaces.

  • Motorists should drive at a reduced speed on approaching the work zone.
