Registration of Motor Vehicles


REGISTRATION OF MOTOR VEHICLES

The requirements are as follows: 

1. No person shall be registered as the owner of a Motor Vehicle unless such person is at least seventeen (17) years of age.
 
2. In order to register a vehicle, the owner or agent shall present the following:
a) A Pro Forma Invoice issued by the motor vehicle firm
b) A completed Motor Vehicle Tax Form (issued by the motor vehicle firm)
c) A completed Registration Form No. 6
d) A certificate of Insurance
 
3. On payment of weighbridge fee of $20.00, the Motor Vehicle will be weighed and inspected to determine compliance with the Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic Act Chapter 48:50, Motor Vehicle Insurance Third Party Risk Chapter 48:51. If the Motor Vehicle is found to be in compliance with the relevant Act, registration will be approved. Thereafter, a registration fee of $100.00 must be paid.
 

AMENDMENTS TO THE MOTOR VEHICLE REGISTER

 NOTIFICATION OF CHANGE OF THE COLOUR OR ENGINE NUMBER

The owner shall present:
a. The completed Notification of Change form
 
b. A valid Certified Copy not more than one (1) years old and;
 
c. the Motor Vehicle to the appointed Transport Officer at any of the Licensing
 Offices
 
 
The Notification of Change form shall be verified by the appointed Transport Officer, after which it must be presented to the cashier with the appropriate fee of $35.00
 

 NOTIFICATION OF CHANGE CHASSIS NUMBER

The Registered Owner shall present:

a. The completed Notification of Change form
 
b. Photographic evidence together with a letter to the Assistant Transport   Commissioner Technical who furnishes a report to the Automotive Transport Officer
 
c. Based on the said Report, the Automotive Transport Officer approves for payment to the cashier and issues CLO, LOS or LO TC to re-stamp. The fee is $35.00

 

FOR THE NOTIFICATION OF CHANGE OF A NAME

  1. By Marriage:
a. The Registered Owner shall present the completed Form No.4,
b. A Notification of Change form
c. A Certificate of Marriage and a copy.

b) By Divorce:
a. The applicant shall present the completed Form No.4,
b. A Notification of Change form
c. A decree absolute certificate.
 

c) By Affidavit
a. The applicant shall present the completed Form No. 4
b. A Notification of Change Form
c. The original and copies of his/her Birth Certificate and Affidavit

 
d) By Deed Poll:
  1. The applicant shall present the completed Form No. 4
  2. A Notification of Change form
  3. The original and a copy of the Deed Poll
A fee of $35.00 is applicable for the Notification of a Change of Name

CHANGE OF ADDRESS

Applicant must be supported by documents as proof of address such as a recent Utility Bill or in the case of a rental, a copy of the Lease/Rental Agreement for the rental premises identified and bearing the name of the Applicant. If the utility bill or Lease/Rental identification (ID) MUST be submitted.
