Highways Division Nationwide Highway Clean-Up
The Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, through its Highways Division, continues to advance clean-up and maintenance works across the nation’s major highways. Active works are currently underway along key routes including the Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway, Churchill Roosevelt Highway, Uriah Butler Highway, and Beetham Highway, as well as at strategic overpasses and roundabouts.
Recent activities at the Piarco Junction and Grand Bazaar Interchange included the clearing of overgrown vegetation, edging, power washing, and painting practical interventions that deliver immediate and visible improvements to the road environment.
These efforts are being undertaken by newly recruited workers from the National Recruitment Drive, representing the first wave of more than 1,800 skilled and unskilled personnel being deployed across district offices to strengthen highway maintenance nationwide. Together, these teams are helping to create cleaner, safer, and more orderly public spaces that promote national pride, enhance productivity, and contribute to a more disciplined society, while reinforcing the Ministry’s ongoing commitment to sustainable infrastructure management across the country.
