APT James Becomes First Vessel Serviced on New AMT Goliath
The APT James is officially the first vessel to be serviced on the nation’s new semi-submersible heavy-lift floating dock, the AMT Goliath. Senior officials of the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, including Permanent Secretary Ian Ramdahin and Deputy Permanent Secretary Ronald Alfred, visited the National Marine Maintenance Services Company Limited on Friday 21 November, 2025 to witness the scheduled dry-docking of the vessel.

As part of its nationwide flood mitigation programme, the Ministry’s Drainage Division undertook desilting works on a key tributary to the Oropouche River. The tributary was affected by sediment deposits and blockages, limiting its drainage capacity and raising concerns for residents of surrounding communities.

Desilting of the Arouca River, Arouca

The Drainage Division of the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure has successfully carried out desilting works along the Arouca River. Over time, silt and debris build-up reduced the river’s ability to channel stormwater effectively, increasing the risk of flooding for nearby communities.

Ministry Enhances Road Safety on Blanchisseuse Road

The Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, through its Programme for Upgrading Roads Efficiency (PURE) Unit, has been executing a series of upgrades along Blanchisseuse Road (Chainage 15+700 to 17+000) to improve safety and reliability for all road users. Earlier works included reinforcing the roadway with durable materials to extend its lifespan, reshaping, re-grading, and paving for smoother travel and better drainage, as well as clearing crossings to improve water flow and reduce the risk of flooding.
