The Ministry of Works and Infrastructure’s Coastal Protection Unit is actively safeguarding Trinidad and Tobago’s vulnerable coastlines against erosion and flooding. One of its latest initiatives — the South Manzanilla Shoreline Stabilisation Project — is designed to protect the beach, preserve the natural environment, and secure vital transportation infrastructure from the growing impacts of coastal flooding.
Shoreline stabilisation plays a critical role in protecting communities and the environment. These projects help to prevent erosion and flooding, safeguard marine life and coastal habitats, reduce storm damage, and strengthen climate resilience. Through this project, the Ministry is delivering long-term protection for communities, stronger infrastructure, and a more resilient coastline for future generations. This project is 90% completed.
