On Wednesday, July 26, 2017, Minister of Works and Transport, Senator the Honourable Rohan Sinanan, acting in accordance with Section 4 of the Maxi Taxi Act Chapter 48:53, appointed a Maxi Taxi Advisory Committee for the purpose of assisting the Licensing Authority in the exercise of its powers under the said Act.
The Committee was appointed to serve for a period of two (2) years. The members of the Committee are as follows:-
(1) Mrs. Sonia Francis-Yearwood – Permanent Secretary (Chairperson);
(2) Mr. Eon Hewitt – President, Association of Maxi Taxis, Trinidad and Tobago;
(3) Mr. Linus Phillip – Vice President, Association of Maxi Taxis, Trinidad and Tobago;
(4) Mr. Arjoon Sinanan – Assistant Treasurer, Association of Maxi Taxis Trinidad and Tobago
(5) Mr. Adrian Acosta – President, Trinidad and Tobago Taxi Drivers Network;
(6) Senior Superintendent, Mr Basdeo Ramdhanie - Trinidad and Tobago Police Service;
(7) Mr. Ronald Jagessar, Manager, Service Planning, Scheduling and Research - PTSC
Minister Sinanan encouraged the committee to work closely with the Licensing Authority and the
Ministry in an effort to improve public transportation and the efficient regulation of maxi taxis in Trinidad
and Tobago for the benefit of all citizens.
