Minister Rohan Sinanan and the Maritime Services Division on the Ground in Tobago During Ongoin (1)

On February 21st 2024, Senator the Honourable Rohan Sinanan, Minister of Works and Transport, along with Chief Secretary of the Tobago House of Assembly Mr. Farley Augustine, Ms. Penelope Bradshaw-Niles, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries, the Director of Maritime Services Division at the Ministry of Works and Transport, and T&T Salvage LLC, visited the Tobago oil spill site off the southern coast of Cove, Tobago.

Upon their arrival in Tobago, the team received an immediate briefing on the response efforts to be carried out by T&T Salvage LLC, a marine services company with extensive experience in emergency response and preparedness within the international maritime and energy sectors.

The T&T Salvage LLC response team, engaged by the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries, includes a salvage master, naval architect and ADCI divers skilled in low to zero-visibility diving. To support their efforts, sonar technology will be deployed in Tobago to aid in the emergency response. Minister Sinanan and the Maritime Services Division team will continue collaborating with key stakeholders in Tobago to ensure that clean-up efforts are both timely and well-coordinated.
