1. Tucker Valley Road Rehabilitation, which includes the development of a dedicated cycling track for the Chaguaramas area.
This project includes the rehabilitation of approximately 715m of roadway connecting Bellerand Road to the Tucker Valley Road. Works also comprise the construction of open box drains and the rehabilitation of failed sections of roadway along Tucker Valley Road for approximately 3.5km.This project bears significant importance to the cycling community who have rallied for a dedicated cycling pathway for several years.
To support the need for greater safety measures for cyclists on the nation’s roadway in 2019, the Ministry will also finalise the Policy and Regulations for the Safety of Cyclists in Trinidad and Tobago.
2. The Diego Martin Interchange Project. At the site visit, the Prime Minister obtained a comprehensive overview and conducted a walkthrough of the project at the proposed site. When completed the interchange project will improve connectivity to the Western Peninsular, increase accommodation for current volumes and future growth and reduce traffic congestion.
Collectively, these projects seek to improve the quality of life for citizens in Trinidad and Tobago where there is an increasing demand for more resilient infrastructure and effective modes of transportation.
