On Saturday 8th April 2017, Senator the Honourable Rohan Sinanan toured the St Ann's East and Tunapuna constituencies to assist in the development a comprehensive infrastructural work program to address the critical needs of communities across Trinidad and Tobago.
Member of Parliament for St. Ann's East Dr. the Honourable Nyan Gadsby Dolly and Member of Parliament for Tunapuna, Mr.Esmond Forde accompanied Minister Sinanan as he toured their respective constituencies.
A technical team from the Ministry of Works and Transport were part of the entourage to assess the infrastructural challenges and key areas that require urgent road rehabilitation and infrastructural works.
Minister Sinanan reiterated, "This initiative is the continuation of an exercise the Ministry of Works and Transport has started, where we will be visiting all 41 constituencies with their Members of Parliament, Mayors, Councillors and representatives of their Regional Corporations, to see first- hand what is required within the various constituencies and to prioritize the projects that will be implemented as funding becomes available. The intention is to bring immediate relief to residents”.
On tour of the St. Ann's Constituency, Minister Gadsby Dolly and Sinanan visited Febeau Village, Sou Sou Lands and Cross Wind Drive where they interacted with members of the communities and identified projects which can be addressed in the shortest time period. Minister Sinanan and Minister Esdmond Forde also toured several communities including Acono Road, where top priority will be placed on ensuring the safety of children in the area, via the construction of a pedestrian walkway.
This initiative will cover all 41 constituencies and allow the Ministry to develop a priority listing to ensure that there is “no wastage, the Ministry can now meet the needs of the people and that there will be greater value for money”.
Tomorrow Minister Sinanan will continue his tour of constituencies with Member of Parliament for La Horquetta/Talparo Senator the Honourable Maxie Cuffie and Member of Parliament for Arima Senator the Honourable Anthony Garcia.
