The Ministry of Works and Transport wishes to advise the general public that contrary to misinformation in the public domain, Double Demerit Points, a component of the Demerit Points System, is currently NOT in effect for the Easter Weekend (Friday 07th – Monday 10th April, 2023).
The issuance of Double Demerit Points is prescribed by the Minister of Works and Transport by Order, for specified traffic violations during a specific period (not exceeding 10 consecutive days) as published in the Gazette and one (1) daily newspaper.
In this regard, prior to the implementation of Double Demerit Points, members of the general public will be notified by way of publication in the daily newspaper, at least five (5) days prior to its commencement.
Once again, persons are reminded to utilize the Ministry’s official website, www.mowt.gov.tt and social media platforms to verify the authenticity of any information related to the Ministry of Works and Transport. Please be guided accordingly.
