Extension of the Validity of Expired Driver's Permits

               (EXTENSION OF TIME FOR THE VALIDITY OF CERTAIN DOCUMENTS) ORDER, 2020


The Ministry of Works and Transport wishes to advise members of the public of recent amendments to sections 19 (7) and 61B (1) of the Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic Act, Chapter 48:50 (MVRTA). The amendments were brought into operation by section 25(a) and (b) of the Miscellaneous Amendments (No. 2) Act, 2020. The Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic (Extension of Time for the Validity of Certain Documents) Order, 2020 signed by the Minister of Works and Transport, the Honourable Rohan Sinanan on the 14th day of September 2020 further extended the validity of drivers permits, taxi driver licences, badges, certificates or other documents issued by the Licensing Division which expired on or before 31st August, 2020 to be deemed valid until 31st December, 2020.

Persons with drivers’ permits, taxi driver licences, badges, certificates or other documents issued by the Licensing Division which expired after 31st August 2020 are encouraged to access the online scheduling appointment portal at https://licensingappointment.mowt.gov.tt/ to have these documents renewed as soon as possible.

Customers should utilize all available time-slots for ALL Licensing offices across Trinidad and Tobago if your preferred location is unavailable. For further updates, visit the Ministry’s website at www.mowt.gov.tt or the official social media platforms.
