MOWT introduces Amendments to the Demerit Point System

The Ministry undertook a review and implemented changes to the Demerit Points System. This review took into consideration the concerns of stakeholders and the general public, as it related to the number of demerit points applicable for several minor traffic violations.

Further Extension of the Validity of Certain Documents issued by the Licensing Division

Given the ongoing impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on the operations of the Licensing Division, the Ministry of Works and Transport wishes to advise members of the public that a further extension of time has taken effect in respect of the following:

Gradual Enforcement of the Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic (Windscreen and Window Tint) Regulations, 2020

Closure of Licensing Offices from Dec. 24, 2021 to Jan., 02, 2022

Closure of St. James Licensing Office - 30th Nov. 2021 - 3rd Dec. 2021

The Ministry of Works and Transport wishes to advise the general public that the St. James Licensing Office will be closed from Tuesday 30th November 2021 to Friday 03rd December 2021. 

Further Extension of the Validity of Expired Licensing Documents

Given the impact of the ongoing State of Emergency and the COVID-19 Pandemic on the operations of the Licensing Division, Cabinet of Trinidad and Tobago has taken a decision as follows:

1. Driving permits, taxi driver licences, badges, certificates or other documents issued by the Licensing Division which expired on or before January 31st 2022 shall be deemed valid until 1st February 2022.

2. Any transfer of vehicle registration required to be completed on or before January 31st, 2022 may be completed on or before 1st February, 2022.

Phase 2 - Reopening of Licensing Offices

The Ministry of Works and Transport wishes to inform the general public that Phase Two - Reopening of all Licensing Offices commenced on Friday 23rd July, 2021with a limited appointment system still in effect. This is necessary to ensure that all COVID-19 health protocols, inclusive of adequate social distancing and crowd control are maintained at all Licensing Office sites.
 

Vehicle Testing Stations Open for Operations

The Ministry of Works and Transport wishes to advise the general public that effective Monday 19th July, 2021 the inspection of vehicles resumed at all approved Vehicle Testing Stations.This is in keeping with the phased reopening of all Licensing Offices nationwide.

Reopening of Licensing Offices on a Phased Basis

The Ministry of Works and Transport wishes to inform the general public that all Licensing Offices will reopen for business effective Monday 12th July 2021 with limited appointments. In light of the COVID-19 Pandemic, the Licensing Division will resume operations on a phased basis to ensure that adequate social distancing and crowd control measures are maintained. During Phase One, Vehicular Transactions, Transfers, Permits and other services listed below will be offered:
