Extension of the Validity of Expired PBR Permits

The Ministry of Works and Transport wishes to advise the public that the validity of Maxi Taxi, Letter, Permanent and Temporary Priority Bus Route Permits (PBR), which expire on December 31st 2022, have been extended to March 31st, 2023. Holders of Permits are advised to adhere to and pay particular attention to the conditions stipulated on PBR Passes to avoid being fined. The Ministry thanks the public for its usual cooperation.

Reinstatement of Online Appointment System for Certain Licensing Transactions

In 2020, the Ministry of Works and Transport implemented an online appointment system to facilitate the continuation of licensing transactions during the COVID-19 Pandemic. Update on Flood Alleviation Efforts in Bamboo Settlement # 2

The passage of an unexpected weather system which lasted for several days resulted in widespread flooding in several communities across Trinidad, with Bamboo Settlement being one of the more severely affected areas. To provide immediate relief to this community, the Ministry’s Drainage Division conducted an initial assessment of the situation, which informed the way forward for flood alleviation efforts for the Bamboo #2 area.

Update on Ongoing Works at Chatham Main Road, 96km Mark 14th November, 2022

The Ministry of Works and Transport would like to provide an update on ongoing works at a landslip at Chatham Main Road, 96km mark. Rehabilitation works on this project are currently ongoing, contrary to comments in the public domain, and are expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2023.

Update on Cumuto Tumpuna Road

As it relates to the circulation of information on the failure of a section of the Cumuto Tumpuna Road, the Ministry of Works and Transport would like to provide an update on the current status of this project. It is important to highlight that this roadway was closed to the general public and vehicular traffic on October 14th, 2022 following a failed culvert crossing.

Closure of Princes Town Licensing Office 10th-11th November, 2022

The Ministry of Works and Transport wishes to advise the general public that the Princes Town Licensing Office will be closed from 10:30 a.m. today, Thursday 10th November to Friday 11th November, 2022. Normal hours of operation will resume on Monday 14th November, 2022.

MOWT Meets with Valsayn South residents

Minister of Works and Transport Visits M1 Tasker Road 4.0km Mark for the Reopening

Senator the Honourable Rohan Sinanan, Minister of Works and Transport was on-site at the M1 Tasker Road 4.0km Mark as the Ministry’s Highways Division completes restoration works on the roadway. The M1 Tasker Road will be reopened to the commuting public at 6:00 p.m. today (Monday 24th October, 2022). At the site visit, Minister Sinanan expressed his satisfaction with the timely progress made on the project which was completed within a two-week period.

Improvement of Drainage in the Cocorite Area

The Ministry of Works and Transport’s Highways Division is currently on-site at Powder Magazine Phase 1, Cocorite clearing debris and silt on the Western Main Road following a minor landslide which occurred after heavy rains. Clean-up efforts commenced on Saturday 22nd October, 2O22 and are ongoing.
