Ministry of Works and Transport - University of the West Indies Coastal Data Exchange

In 2016, the Ministry of Works and Transport signed an agreement with the University of the West Indies to facilitate the sharing of data collected by the Ministry along the east coast of Trinidad. The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering leads a wider UWI team on a RDI (Research, Development and Impact) - funded project which is intended to investigate the erosion and flooding hazard on the east coast of Trinidad. This study aims to gather relevant physical data in a comprehensive manner and present said physical evidence in a format that is suitable for referencing, analyses, scientific research, decision support and policy development.

Launch of Freeport to Couva Parallel Access Road and Beaucarro Road Tour

The Coastal Protection Unit of the Ministry of Works and Transport supports a safe environment for those who enjoy the amenities of the coast, and wishes to advise the public of the  importance of following advisories from the Office of Disaster and Preparedness and Management (ODPM) and other national agencies for sea bathers and fisher folk to exercise extreme caution when venturing into or near rough seas.

Driving regulations exams now available to the hearing impaired community of Trinidad and Tobago

The Ministry of Works and Transport (MOWT), in collaboration with the Trinidad and Tobago Association for the Hearing Impaired (TTAHI), the Deaf Empowerment and Advancement Foundation (DEAF) and the Caribbean Sign Language Center for Leadership (CSLCL) have designed a special regulations exam; that will today, for the first time in Trinidad and Tobago, enable ten (10) hearing impaired citizens to sit driving regulations exams at the Licensing Division, Wrightson Road, Port of Spain.
