The Ministry of Works and Transport invites members of the public who may feel the impact of coastal erosion which may be exacerbated due to the recent rough seas bulletin issued by the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service, to make a report to the Coastal Protection Unit.

In 2016, the Ministry of Works and Transport signed an agreement with the University of the West Indies to facilitate the sharing of data collected by the Ministry along the east coast of Trinidad. The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering leads a wider UWI team on a RDI (Research, Development and Impact) - funded project which is intended to investigate the erosion and flooding hazard on the east coast of Trinidad. This study aims to gather relevant physical data in a comprehensive manner and present said physical evidence in a format that is suitable for referencing, analyses, scientific research, decision support and policy development.

On Friday 18th November, 2016 the Minister of Works and Transport, Senator the Honourable, Rohan Sinanan launched the Freeport to Couva Parallel Access Road, and also conducted a site tour of on-going drainage and road works at Beaucarro Road, Freeport and a site tour of Mosquito Creek.

For this reason, Iam honoured to commemorate World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims on this third Sunday in the month of November. Let us all understand the power of collaboration in the spirit of hope and realize that when we work together: drivers, pedestrians, special interest groups like Arrive Alive and government can make travel on our roads much safer for all.

The Coastal Protection Unit of the Ministry of Works and Transport supports a safe environment for those who enjoy the amenities of the coast, and wishes to advise the public of the  importance of following advisories from the Office of Disaster and Preparedness and Management (ODPM) and other national agencies for sea bathers and fisher folk to exercise extreme caution when venturing into or near rough seas.

The Point Lisas Industrial Port Development Corporation Limited (PLIPDECO) celebrated its 50th anniversary on Friday 16th September, 2016, with an Interfaith Service at the Port Administration Car Park, Port Point Lisas at 9:00 a.m.
