Address delivered by Senator the Honourable Rohan Sinanan, Minister of Works and Transport

On 26th February 2019, Senator the Honourable Rohan Sinanan Minister of Works and Transport, the Honourable Stuart Young, Minister of National Security and other Senior Officials of the Airports Authority of Trinidad and Tobago and the Civil Aviation Authority conducted a walkthrough of the Piarco International Airport. This visit focused on the existing security mechanisms with a view to enhancing and improving all security features.

On Friday 8^th February, 2019 the Ministry of Works and Transport commissioned the first weight control station (Weigh Bridge) at the Golconda intersection in San Fernando.

passengers who were involved in the fatal road traffic accident on the Uriah Butler Highway near
Charlieville, on February 5, 2019.

The public is hereby notified that on Monday 24th December, 2018 and Monday 31st December,
2018, all Licensing Offices across Trinidad will be closed at 12:00 noon.
 

The Ministry of Works and Transport wishes to provide an update on the application of Sunwing Airlines
to operate direct flights from Toronto to Tobago. Subsequent to statements made by Senator the
Honourable Rohan Sinanan, Minister of Works and Transport in the 6th Sitting of the Senate (4th Session),
on Tuesday 4th December, 2018, we advise that Sunwing Airlines has submitted an application for an
International Commercial Air Transport Permit to operate direct flights from Toronto to Tobago.
The application is currently being reviewed by the relevant authority.
