MOWT implements the randomization of vehicle registration numbers effective Monday 2nd July, 2018.

The Ministry of Works and Transport (MOWT) wishes to advise the general public that with effect from Monday 2nd July, 2018 vehicle registration numbers will now be assigned to vehicles on a randomized basis within the latest series. This new system replaces the issuance of vehicle registration numbers on a sequential basis as previously in place.

MOWT in consultation phase for Diego Martin Overpass

The Ministry of Works and Transport (MOWT) welcomes the unanimous decision of the Court of Appeal which has dismissed the case of the Fisherman and Friends of the Sea (FFSO) challenging the decision of the Environmental Management Authority (EMA) for granting a Certificate of Environmental Clearance to the Ministry for the construction of the Cumuto to Manzanilla Highway. The Court of Appeal has unequivocally reaffirmed the decision of the High Court.

New Traffic Signs along the Diego Martin Highway and environs to facilitate Sporting Activities and Community Development

Minister of Works and Transport, Senator the Honourable Rohan Sinanan, has designated a safe zone of 2km of the roadway for a weekly community wellness and physical activity programme in Diego Martin. The Ministry of Works and Transport has approved the installation of new traffic signs along the Diego Martin Highway to inform residents and drivers of this new initiative, which is the first of its kind in the Caribbean.

The Ministry of Works and Transport has noted the Newsday article which appeared on Friday 2nd March, 2018 titled “Sando Mayor bombarded with bad-road complaints” and wishes to clarify that the Nationwide Road Maintenance Initiative is ongoing, and is currently operational throughout the Diego Martin and Sangre Grande Regional Corporations and the Port of Spain City Corporation.
